The 2023-2024 SLED Cybersecurity Priorities Report (CPR) is now available. You can be among the first to download a copy of the report.
The annual SLED CPR provides insights and perspectives from cybersecurity leaders across the public sector, informing and empowering cybersecurity leaders in state and local government and education. The report identifies common trends, industry-specific needs, and key priorities to help leaders formulate, improve, and recruit support for cybersecurity plans. This is the only cybersecurity report dedicated to the unique environments and challenges SLED technology and cybersecurity leaders face.
This year’s SLED CPR is an expansion and improvement over the previous 2022 report including changes such as:
Key contributors to the SLED CPR, in addition to Curt Wood, include Michael Gregg (CISO, State of North Dakota), Tina Carkhuff (Industry Advisor, Splunk and former CIO at the City of Houston), Tamer Baker (Chief Technology Officer, Health, Government and Education, Zscaler), Chris Holden (Chief Client Officer, Recorded Future), and Jon DiMaggio (Chief Security Strategist, Analyst 1).
Additionally, NuHarbor Security partnered with industry leaders Splunk, Zscaler, and Recorded Future to dig deeper, learn more, and provide a higher level of actionable information.
The report first delves into the new and promising area of Whole-of-State cybersecurity programs, including experiences and impressions from those leading the charge. Next, the conversation shifts to the challenges of hiring and retaining cyber talent in a community that often struggles to match the financial and marquee benefits of similar jobs in the private sector. The report continues with a review of trends and challenges in cyber insurance, the growing sophistication and systemization of the cyber threat landscape, and closes with cybersecurity predictions for 2024.
